The Tree Of Life

The Bierton & Hulcott WI meets in the Jubilee Hall, Bierton at 2.30pm on the first Thursday in the month.  We enjoy an interesting speaker, raffle, a competition, and tea and biscuits – and of course a friendly chat with fellow members.

The purpose of the WI is to encourage and enable women:

To enhance their lives and to play their part in the community through education and public debate

To improve their lives and the lives of those around them

To lead fulfilling lives and to be of value in the community and nationally by influencing policy/decision makers

To provide a friendly atmosphere where women can be inspired and enlightened

In June 2008 the WI debated the following motions.  The first was supported overwhelmingly but the second was narrowly defeated:

In view of the adverse effect on families of inappropriate imprisonment of people with severe mental health problems, this meeting urges HM Government to review the conditions imposed by the justice system on the severely mentally ill, and to provide treatment and therapy in a more appropriate and secure residential environment.

 • This meeting asks HM Government to urge the E.U. to ban bottom trawling which causes catastrophic loss of marine life.

If you would like to join us, why not come along to our next meeting?    You can come as a visitor for two meetings before you decide to become a member.
