Speed Indicating Device - SID

SID is happy! The speed limit is being obeyed

The three sites in Bierton where SID was used

During the week beginning 8th September 2003 the Speed Indicating Device (SID) was used in Bierton to monitor the speed of traffic.  Three locations were monitored: Site 1 was on the A418 near the Church, site 2 was at the opposite end of the village near the Hulcott Turn, and site 3 was along Burcott Lane.Oops! This is a 30 mph limit!

SID displays to the motorist the speed at which the vehicle is travelling and shows a smiley face if within or close to the speed limit. However if the car is moving at over 55 mph a sad face is displayed.

A team of ten volunteers drawn from the village, including several Parish Councillors, worked in relays to man the device and record how many vehicles were exceeding the speed limit.

  Using SID along Burcott Lane

Using SID on the A418 near the ChurchBurcott Lane was monitored for a total of 11 hours in the week.

The A418 near the Church was monitored for 10 hours and the Hulcott end for 6.5 hours.
